Overnight stop on the A1 near Orvieto

A beautiful overnight stop in central Italy, just off the A1 near Orvieto

Long drives through Italy do not have to mean motorway hotels.
Misia is around 10 minutes from the Orvieto exit of the A1, making it an easy place to break a journey through central Italy while staying somewhere that feels completely different from a conventional stopover.
You arrive, park nearby, leave the road behind and spend the night inside the medieval village of Rocca Ripesena.

Travelling from Rome towards Tuscany?

Orvieto is a natural stop when driving north from Rome towards Tuscany. Misia is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from Rome, around 10 minutes from the A1 exit and 10 minutes from Orvieto’s historic centre.
You can stop for the night, visit Orvieto, have dinner nearby, sleep in the quiet of the village and continue your journey the following morning.

Travelling north or south through Italy?

Misia also works well for travellers crossing Italy on longer north–south journeys. Whether you are driving from southern Italy towards Florence and northern Italy, or heading south from Tuscany towards Rome and beyond, Orvieto is a convenient place to break the journey.
But the idea is not simply to stop. It is to make the stop part of the trip.

Why stop at Misia instead of a motorway hotel?

You have the practical advantages of an overnight stop — easy access from the A1, free parking nearby, comfortable rooms and breakfast in the morning — but you wake up inside a medieval village rather than beside a motorway.
Misia offers quiet rooms, quality beds, countryside views and a homemade breakfast before you get back on the road. Orvieto is only 10 minutes away and Civita di Bagnoregio around 25 minutes by car.

Arriving late?

Late check-in can be arranged in advance. If you are driving, we also recommend using our official route to Misia, as some navigation apps may occasionally suggest an unpaved road through the vineyards.

A stop you may remember as part of the journey

Sometimes the best part of a road trip is the place you were only planning to sleep.
